Ladies and Gentlemen may i present to you the greatest playoff system in all the world. A week by week elimination process so that at the end of the year only one team will remain. this week eliminated from championship dreams USC, BYU, and not that they were serious, but if you win it all...UTAH and Georgia Tech. so lets see what the new pudge poll looks like.
25. Washington (2-1 lw=NR) well they played with one of the best teams in the nation LSU, and then shocked the world by beating USC last week(more on that later)
24. Nebraska (2-1 lw=21) i cant fault the cornhuskers for going on the road and losing to what i think is one of the best teams in the nation on a last second touchdown virginia tech. but the teams that the huskers play are starting to hurt them...weak.
23. Michigan (3-0 lw= 25) i mean lets be honest. they are probably ahead of schedule, but i really dont like them all that much. i just hope brother gary reads this and sees that the wolverines keep moving up...
22. Cincinnati(3-0 lw=23) bearcats to the BCS. write that down. after thrashing the early competition i saw them beat a decent team in oregon state(who actually dropped from my poll) i see them rising quickly in the Pudge Poll.
21. Kansas (3-0 lw=23) another win for the jayhawks. another spot up in the poll. im ready to see them play somebody soon...
20. UNC (3-0 lw=22) the tarheels beat last years upset specialist east carolina this week but the last time the were on the road they barely survived. i dont think that they will this week at georgia tech.
19. Oregon (2-1 lw NR) after exiting the pudge poll for a week they upset utah and earned their way back in. right now i think that the pac10 is still up in the air. heres to hoing the ducks pull out some upsets...
18. Georgia (2-1 lw= 15) man i cant help but keep the dogs from dropping. yes they won a shoot out again this week...but word to mark richt and willie martinez-fellas you coach in the sec, the conference that actually plays defense...i suggest you take note. joe cox continues to look good.
17. TCU (3-0 lw=17) not sold on the hornedfrogs yet. especially since conference top dogs utah and byu both went down itll be up to them to carry the torch in the supposedly "tough" mountian west. we will see as they travel to clemson. im taking the tigers...
16a. Oklahoma State (2-1 lw=14) they beat rice. so what. now they play grambling state? im tired of the hype of the cowboys.
16b. Ohio State (i dont care) i actually forgot them this week but dont feel too bad. ill pay attention next week.
15. BYU (2-1 lw=11) so much for that national title. i mean still give them credit for the win over oklahoma, but they proved that once again teams from smaller conferences cant beat the big boys week after week. sure they beat okla-but they prepped all summer, give them a week for FSU they lost. just like utah last year. give them a month for bama and the stole a dub, but let them play sec ball...8-4 at best. cougars or utes for that matter.
14. FSU(2-1 lw=NR) i mean yeah they got beat by miami, but the canes seem to be better than expected, and they travled all the way to utah and stomped on the cougars and max hall's heisman hopes. christian ponder finally looks like the qb bobby wanted..
13. Georgia Tech (2-1 lw=10) yet another team on the miami loss train. got outplayed from the start. couldnt slow down heisman darkhorse harris and lets face it the triple option doesnt really work well when playing from behind...and also the defense didnt seem to play as well as usual. the acc will be fun to watch. FSU, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Virginia Tech...
12. USC (2-1 lw=2) well the trojans always seems to lose at least one. i dont know what it is about them. maybe it was the loss of star qb matt barkley or best defender taylor mays, or could it be two road trips in a row? who knows what it is. but they are always almost there. just like this year.
11. Miami (2-0 lw=18) so what theyve only won two games. they have beaten two top 15 teams in each one and qb jacory harris is starting to gain lots of heisman talk. but listen to this. 70% comp. 650 yds. 5tds. not bad. plus the canes have a beavy of south florida talent. coach randy shannon could be on the verge of something special but vtech and okla in back to back weeks could be tough.
10. Oklahoma (2-10 lw=12) i dont know how to explain this one...but when your qb throws for 6tds thats got to mean something. texas seems to be the cream of the crop, but they need sam bradford back and in a hurry.
9. California (3-0 lw=16) so the golden bears are rocketing up the pudge poll. and for good reason. rb jahvid best is sick. almost 8 yds a carry. 450 yds and 8 tds. heisman ballots better have him on there for sure.
8. Virginia Tech (2-1 lw=9) qb tyrod taylor finally showed that he can pass too. it took him until that last minute of the game, but he got it done. still can win this suddenly tough conference.
7. Boise State (3-0 lw=9) and here comes the best team in the best flag football league in america. seriously give me a break. in what was a "classic" game of two hand touch over fresno state (remember them? coach pat hill was going to put them on the map...question is.where is fresno exactly? get my point.) boise will probably run the table and then complain about not getting a shot to play for it all.
6. Penn State (3-0 lw=7) models of consistancy. 31-7, 28-7, 31-6. three games. three wins. and another spot up the pudge poll. but after ohio state lost another big game the nittany lions better win out if they want to play for the ship. a one loss team from the big ten doesnt get in. remember that. put it on a tshirt or something.
heres a question for you pudge...why havent i seen any sec teams in your poll? well here is why. 4 of the top 5 are from the big boy conference.
5. LSU (3-0 lw=6) the hat aka les miles has the tigers rocking and rolling. dual threat qb jordan jefferson has lead them thus far, but once the competition stiffens i imagine that things might be a bit different for them...
4. Ole Miss (2-0 lw=4) like i said in my preseason picks- they have the toughest games on their schedule at home. that bodes well for them. qb jevan snead and dexter mccluster continue to play well.
3. Alabama (3-0 lw=5) im sure that lots of people are thinking it, but after the end of last season and the debacle that was the sugar bowl they are afraid to say it. is bama the best team in the nation? maybe so. its too bad that they cant play forida best two of three for the title. awesome running game with ingram and upchurch. defense could be the best in the country. we will see what happens as there are a lot of good teams in the west and im not sure that any will come out unscathed. bama has the best shot because of the D and running game. but they also have the biggest question mark at qb. can greg mcelroy manage to stay nearly perfect??
2. Texas (3-0 lw=3) great revenge win for mack brown and co against texas tech. good news about colt mccoy- he isnt leading the team in rushing this year. bad news- he has 6tds and 4ints. that number should be a little bit different for the "best team in the nation- not in the sec"
1. Florida (3-0 lw=1) and here we find the best team in the east, the sec, and the nation. maybe tennesse showed how you can slow the gators down, but they didnt show how you can stop them. the main reason is number 15 himself. and lets remember this people tebow fumbled once going into the endzone that couldve made it 30-13 and if not for an nfl caliber, heisman trophy stealing pick by eric berry who knows what they wouldve done. what would you say if it was 33-13 or 33-10. gators dont look so beatable do they? i mean the only reason why ole miss beat them last year was 6 turnovers. so i guess if you can make them turn it over they are beatable, but you better not give it back to them. or if you really want to win find a way to make sure that tebow cant leave his hotel room or something. he makes them the best team in the nation. end of discussion.
