Alright folks. settle down. just sit back and listen to what pudge thinks and what we need to do, which i shouldnt have to remind you about this kind of things, but i know what im talking about. but let me give you my list of names that could/should be or why they shouldnt be the next head coach at Tennessee. in no particular order....
A. Paul Johnson- hmm...i dont know. i like the triple option.
B. Jim Leavitt- former head coach at USF, which btw killed west virginia spread option (when they were good) and got up to #2 in the nation. thats south florida btw.
C. Gary Patterson- head coach at TCU. i mean he went 13-0 there and played in the fiesta bowl, he goes 13-0 at UT and plays for it all. why wouldnt he leave?
D. Tommy Tuberville- well he hasnt really made it official at texas tech, and dont you think that he would like to get some revenge on a certain sec school or two?
E. David Cutcliffe- Why not? bring back john chavis and continue on the way we were going...
F. Chris Peterson- the punk at boise state?
G. a former nfl coach??? gruden, dungy, lovie smith, bill cowher, jack del rio. whatever
H. and this is my pick. just as it was last year. a young man by the name of randy edsall. he has a winning record at...connecticut. including 3 straight bowl trips and a conference title. if dude can win there (where they just whooped south carolina in a bowl game) dont you think he could win at tennessee???
I. steve spurrier- most would hate it but...consider where we are.
J. Mike Leach- i dont think this is the way to go. you have to play D and run the ball to win. of which he knows neither.
K. Russ Huessman- utc head guy makes the jump the knoxville.
L. Tommy West- former memphis boss? doubt it.
M. Dave Clawson- well...
N. Robb Akey- head coach of idaho. check him out.
O. Mike Stoops- arizona head coach
ok enough about those guys. lets talk about who we should be mad at. ourselves. well not so much me, because i didnt want it to happen. but all of those fulmer haters out there- congrats. you got what you wanted. and now we are the laughing stock of the sec. we wanted a hired gun and he screwed us big time. oh and btw the guy has a career losing record. big phil? he just won 75% of his games. phil would never ever leave the university of tennessee, no matter the school, the job, or the amount of money. and now we have been left holding the bag. and who is to say that the next joker doesnt do the same thing. granted 2 out of 4 losing seasons isnt acceptable, but now our best bet would be to go begging him back. and if i were phil id say screw you, but we all know good and well that will never happen. heaven forbid we go get a coach with a national title and 100 games over .500 on his record. i also blame and think that we should be mad at mike hamilton. he is the one who buckled to the boosters and then went and hired the jerk. this will set our program back 3-4 years at best. i mean if youre honest you know that we werent gonna be any better than 7-5 8-4 again next year, but...2011 and 2012 were starting to look good. it hurts us because weve got to get a coach in before the weekend- and unless you want joe schmoe from small school u- that aint gonna happen. and if we get a "big name" coach- he is bailing on his school just like ours did... it hurts us because we are less than a month from national signing day and we dont have a coach. and this is the second time in as many years that we are scambling to put together a staff to scape a class together. unacceptable in my opinion. so who knows how it will all play out. but let me leave you with a few things. avoid the rush, hate bama early. and finally...dont forget this folks. we are now, and have been a basketball school!!! bruce and the boys are back!!! lets go big orange!

"Pudge is Back- Championship Edition"
as i sit and watch what the final half of college football this season...in where yet another sec team is going to win the national title...i thought that i would give a shout out to the champs. not college football- that will be a little bit later, but to the fantasy football champs. my very first year i road peyton all the way to the title, a bad draft and some key injuries killed me last year, but this year i had a great draft and several key pickups and won it all. it wasnt even close really. and i just want to let everybody else know. with the 3rd pick in the draft i took MJD (maurice jones drew) who wound up being the 4 best player overall this year! i know that i took some crap for not taking peyton, but because of that i was able to get MJD and then get andre johnson followed by reggie wayne (who became the 2nd and 8th best wideout in the league) my third wideout was a late round draft pick named sidney rice who became the 10th best and more importantly brett favre's favorite target. of course i did have to show some VOL love, and i took jason witten who had a "down" year and was still the 5th best tight end. key pickups included ricky williams once ronnie brown went down and jamaal charles at the end of the year when he was blazin hot. i had the kicker for the best offense until he got hurt and i got his replacement...i also had the saints D for most of the year, i did play the bengals at the start and they were pretty good most of the year too. my fantasy qb go to is donovan mcnabb, and i played it perfectly thank you. after dmac got hurt i played eli manning (hey if you cant get peyton might as well get the next best thing) until he started sucking and dmac got healthy so i played him as well.
this week in the NFL im gonna take the igles against the boys. i know that the cowboys are hot and a hot pick, but i like andy reid and dmac. eagles vol- omar gaither, darwin walker. cowboys vol- jason witten. in the nfc im also gonna go with the pack over the cards. coin flip really. both can score in bunches and they can also give it up in bunches. packers vols- justin harrell, chad clifton, scott wels. cardinals vols- none. AFC playoffs are some interesting games. id like to say j-e-t-s jets jets jets, but i think that the bengals will have a little something to play for this week and mark "sun's up, gun's up" sanchez could get a beat up on the road. jets vols- shaun ellis, erik ainge. bengals vols- none and last but not least im going with the ravens over the patriots. i really like joe cool flaco. patriots vols- jerod mayo ravens vols- kelley washington.

"2010- ready or not here I come"
well folks...as Jordan said the first time....I'm Back. and I'm coming back with a vengeance. i know i was a slacker for not getting out a bowl preview, but trust me- you didnt want my advice. basically what ive come to do today is bare my soul for the world to see. now for those of you that know me, know that this is something the is common for me. ask my opinion- ill tell you, and sometimes even if you dont ask. i have opinions on everything and i hope for your sake that you agree with me. i wasnt sure what was going to happen when i started this blog back in the summer. ive talked baseball, politics, ut sports, the reds, family, friends, jesus, life in general, college football, pro football, church, youth group, and what appears to be my masterpiece- a tribute to my grandfather http://whatpudgethinks.blogspot.com/2009/11/who-shot-charlie-brown.html. after that it didnt seem to matter. there wasnt really anything worth writing about that people wanted to hear. the vols? tiger? sale creek? maybe later. but now on this second day of the greatest year of my life i bring you my new years resolutions for 2010.
1. read my bible more- this might be the easiest one to accomplish seeing is all i have to do is read the bible. but i think that is much more than that. i dont want to read my bible so i can say "hey i read my bible" i want to read so that i can learn more about jesus. which, as a christian (like christ) shouldnt i learn more about the man that i need to strive to be like. for that matter- shouldnt you? and lets not get into the fact that the bible is awesome to read. i have to slow down and reread so much because things just jump of the pages and i need to understand what god wants me to learn.
2. be a better leader- there are lots of people that i have been given the chance to lead. some might not know it, but they follow me. my girlfriend nicki- i need to be the man of god that she deserves. my little mentoree sam- i need to show him how to make it through high school, college, and life and become a man (which is interesting seeing how im not 100% sure what it takes) the students that i interact with- either subbing or the youth at church- i need to be able to make sure that i do things the right way for them. my players- what an impact that coaches have on the players that play for them. i hope i pray that i treat them all fairly, lead by action and word, and most importantly let them know that sports nor school is most important. and more important than those is the relationship that they have with the savior of the world. my sunday school class- kind of tough teaching class of people my own age. i need to practice what i preach.
3. get back in shape- i know everybody always says this, but im fat. as in when i stopped doing P90X ive gained like 20 lbs. so much for those 10-15 that i lost. plus church ball is about to start and i need to be ready to dominate. oh and ive got to fit in baseball pants come march.
4. always back in parking spaces- not only could it be a challenge, but it could be fun to do. think about it. every single time. backing in. haha. does it count for when i park in the garage/driveway?
5. NEVER GO TO WALMART- and do i ever hope that this comes true. i probably didnt go to walmart 15 times this year and that was without trying. if they dont have it at targer, kmart, or bilo- i dont need it. two things might make this impossible. 1- the majority of the times i did go was with david ivarson for youth events. 2- i have had to go and get medicine for grandma. but i promise you this- i will not go to walmart for personal reasons!! yessir!
i leave you with lyrics from one of my favorite songs.
"oh the devil is singing
an age old song over me.
That i am cursed and gone astray.
singing the first verse so convieniently
he's forgotten the refrain,
JESUS SAVES."
